Son of the late Maj. Gen. Roper Boswall and his wife Eleanor Macdonald, daughter of the late Alexander Brodie, of Edinburgh; husband of Theresa, daughter of the late Hormuzd Rassam. He was a Writer to the Signet. Served in the South African War in the C.I.V'S. Obtained permanent post of mounted orderly to Lord Kitchener. Inspector of Police in Pretoria at the conclusion of the South African War.
