Reuben Bezer was my grandfather's brother. I know very little about him other than they both fought in Ypres, Belgium during World War 1 with the Northumberland Fusiliers but signed up at different times due to a small age difference. Reuben was in the 6th Battalion. My grandfather was shot and left for dead in a pile of bodies but amazingly, he was discovered and pulled out in time. He lived on and returned to marry after the war was over. He and his wife had one son; Graham (my father) but his brother Reuben never came home..... Such a devastating loss of a brilliant young life. Reuben will always be remembered in our hearts and minds and we will be forever thankful for the ultimate sacrifice he made for the freedom we enjoy today. God bless you Reuben.... xx
