I didn't know of my Great Uncle James until I started researching my family tree. I learnt that he was killed at the battle of Passchendaele on 25 September 1917 age 25 years. I have since visited the Tyne Cot Memorial in Belgium with my wife, daughter and grandchildren to pay our respects. No body was ever found just an inscription on the Memorial Wall. We also attended a Service of Remembrance when his name was added to The Roll of Honour in Liverpool Town Hall.
