Scholar of Jesus College Cambridge B.A. 1915 and was a member of the Cambridge University OTC
He was severely wounded about midnight on 2nd July. The enemy bombarded the trench with rifle grenades and one hit inside and hit him and 3 others, he sustained a fractured skull. He had only been out there for seven nights. He was moved to the 82nd Brigade Ambulance where the operation of Trepanning was performed. He died a month later

Leiut A. Crookham seriously wounded, hit By a Rifle Grenade
News has been received by Mrs Crookham of the Vicarage Wisbech that her son Leiut Crookham of the 1st Cambridgeshire Regiment has been severely wounded.
It happened about midnight on 2nd July. The enemy bombarded the trench with rifle grenades and one hit inside and hit him and 3 others. He sustained a fractured skull. He had only been out there a week, this was his seventh night in the firing trench when it happened.

The war office announces that Lt H. A. R. Crookham of the 1st Cambs Regiment has died of wounds while fighting with the British Expeditionary Force.
