Dear Mrs Dunnett I am extremely sorry to have to announce to you that your son lost his life yesterday. We all join in expressing our deepest regret at your sad loss. The Cambridgeshire suffered very heavily yesterday. All the officers who were there have been (?) so it is difficult to get any details as to the individual cases. However all did their best and everything that could be done was done regardless of the danger and it may be some consolation to you in your son’s loss that your son died as a gallant soldier performing his duty to the last. Believe me to remain yours very sincerely F A Marr. Pte Dunnett was formally employed by Messrs Eaden Lilly and Co.
