Cassidy, Aubrey

(related by marriage to me)

He was born 13 Jun 1886*, in Callington (Corn.); and died 1 Nov 1914, at sea aboard the H.M.S Monmouth during the Battle of Coronel. He was only twenty eight years old, and left no family behind.

Aubrey worked as a farm labourer, before joining the navy in 1906, aged 20.

*note: on his naval service records this is recorded as 1888.

 

His parents were:

Cassidy, John b. 1856, Ontario; d. late 1931, Plymouth (Dev.)

Hawke, Elizabeth Mary b. late 1855, Callington (Corn.); d. mid 1929, Plymouth (Dev.)

They were married by mid 1884, in Callington (Corn.), and had six children together.

Elizabeth had previously been married to James Stevens, and they had one child together.
