Frederick John Ballard was the younger of two sons of Charles Henry Ballard & Anne. He was born in Battersea, London in 1899. Frederick enlisted with the 2nd/2nd Battalion, London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers) in Brighton. He died of wounds probably received at the Third Battle of Picardy 10th August 1918.
