12084 Private Tom Freeth of the 184th Company, Machine Gun Corps, formerly 3261 of the Manchester Regiment:

 

He died of wounds on the 6 April 1917, aged 25 years, and he is buried in Nesle Communal Cemetery, Somme, France.

 

Tom Freeth was born at Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, on the 4 March 1892 to Joseph Freeth and Elizabeth Sidebottom who were married at St John’s Church, Dukinfield, Cheshire, on the 5 July 1884. He married Ethel Thorp at St James’s Church, Ashton-under-Lyne, in 1910. In 1911 he was resident with his wife on St Ann Street, Hurst, Ashton-under-Lyne, employed as a forgeman. Later his widow moved to Bow Street, Dukinfield.
