Bdr G.W. Tyreman - RGA
Bombardier George William Tyreman, Royal Garrison Artillery, died April 16, 1918. Occupation: Shearer. He married Sarah Anne Pearson on May 20, 1916 at St John's Church, Shildon. He had two brothers, Benjamin and Joseph and a sister Alice. His parents are marked ‘none’ on his service papers. He died of wounds received in action, gunshot wounds to chest and abdomen. His wife received a telegram stamped Dover, April 15. It is unclear whether she received the telegram before he died:
"Regret to inform you Officer commanding 7 Stationary Hospital Boulogne telegraphs 15th April your husband 295863 Lance Bombadier GW Tyreman 151 Heavy Battery RGA dangerously wounded. If you desire to visit him for permit at Alexandra House Kingsway London bringing this telegram or if you are unable to bear expense to London take this telegram to nearest police station."
