My grandfather was killed in 1917 in what was then Messopotamia. I do not know much about him except that he left a wife, Rosa and three children, William Henry, Evelyn and Cecil George (my father). They lived in Axminster, Devon and his name is on the War Memorial there. He was 6ft 6" tall and this gene has passed down my family. I am over 6ft (tall for a girl!) and my sons are 6ft 7" and 6ft 10". He won trophies for rifle shooting at Bisley and was, I think, attached to the Machine Gun Corps at the time of his death. Unfortunately there are no longer any Percy-Hardman men to carry on the family name.
