Alexander, we read that your home in Kirkhill was at Bunchrew, although on the 1901 Census you were recorded as the son of Alexander and Catherine McLean at Englishton age 20. In 1911 your father was listed as occupying a house at Englishton owned by the Lovat Estate, and his occupation was recorded as late railway porter. We learn that you had emigrated to Canada in 1910 when you were 29 years old after being employed on the Highland Railway as a clerk. You served in the 7th Battalion, British Columbia Regiment which at the time of your death had succeeded in capturing Hill 70 during the 3rd Battle of Ypres. Alexander, we honour you as a brave soldier who returned home to fight for your country. We have much sympathy for you and for your parents. Rest in Peace. Terry and Harry.
