I work in Liverpool City Centre and occasionally retreat to Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral at lunchtime, to gather my thoughts. One day I was inexplicably drawn to the Book of Remembrance. Imagine my surprise when I looked and saw my own name staring back at me. I know for certain that we are unrelated but I was quickly onto Google where I soon learned of the heroism of Captain Alan Cookson and the high esteem in which he was held by his men. In your service and sacrifice you have given me a better understanding of the massive losses our nation suffered in making a stand against tyranny and aggression. The Kings Regiment is still revered here in Liverpool and we will always cherish and respect the distinguished service of officers and men in all you did for our nation.
