Walter Samuel Durrant was one of 8 sons born to one of my Great Grandfathers on the maternal side of the family. All 8 boys enlisted to fight in the Great War but only 5 returned safely home at the end of the war. Walter Samuel was a Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery serving in Iraq and was killed on 1st July 1916; he is buried in the Basra War Cemetary
