Aleck worked on farms in the north east of Scotland. He was my husband’s uncle.  He was one of 3 brothers who served in ww1 in the Gordon highlanders. 1 of the other brothers was killed, my husband’s father survived but he never mentioned the war so we don’t know anything about what happened while he was in France.
