Abraham Smith was born about 1889. His parents were Abraham and Elizabeth and he had two siblings - Harold and Mabel. They lived in Eastleigh, Hants. On 24 November 1915 Abraham married Edith George in Woodbury, Devon. At the time he was a coachbuilder for the City of Exeter Railway. On 28 November 1915 he joined the Royal Engineers and was mobilised on 7 February 1916 - he was a Sapper in the 119th Railway Company. On 4 December 1918 he died of Broncho-pneumonia due to exposure whilst on military action. He was buried at Tincourt Cemetery.
Edith, his wife, later went on to marry my Grandfather, Edward Croft.
