James Mount was born in Herne Bay on 27 Feb 1895, the son of Arthur and Ellen Mount.
On 30 Jan 1914 James joined the royal Navy signing for 12 years service. He served as a Stoker 2nd class on HMS Pembroke at Chatham.
James died of TB on 29th Jan 1915 and is buried at the Royal Naval Cemetery in Gillingham. His Mother chose the words for his headstone, "Simply to the Cross I Cling"
