My grandmother was a widow for exactly fifty years. She passed away on 25th November 1967 fifty years to the day from my grandfather being killed at Passchendaele. I hope that my grandparents are proud of the life I have led, them having made the sacrifice to allow this to be possible. I thank all the servicemen who laid down their lives in order that we are able to enjoy our families, something that they were denied. Trusting that one day I will be able to visit my grandfather's grave in Tyne Cot Cemetery and pay my respects to him there.
