I can remember my Nan, Doug's sister Annie, always sent a posy of flowers with us to the Anzac Day commemoration in Sydney to be placed on the Cenotaph in Martin place, in remembrance of not only Doug but of his brother Greg also killed in WW1. I had the privilege of reading the diary that the boys kept, and can still remember the shock and feeling of loss at turning over the page only to find it blank thereafter. The boys have a special place in my heart as I research my family history. I hope my family's future generations will remember them too.
