Christopher McIntosh was born in Montrose, Forfarshire in 1892. He began his golfing career as a club maker to his father who was the resident golf professional at the Preston Club in Lancashire. Christopher became a talented player who featured in a number of tournaments including finishing as runner-up in the prestigious Sphere & Tatler Foursomes event in 1914. Having become a member of The Professional Golfers' Asociation, Northern Section in 1910 he would take over at Preston Golf Club on the retirement of his father in 1914. Joining the Colours in 1915 he went off to fight as a Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery. Sadly he was badly injured during battle in October 1918 a short while later dying from his wounds. He is buried in Vadencourt British Cemetery, Maissemy, France and was just 26 years of age.
