Born in Radyr, Glamorgan in 1895, the son of George and Emma Mabbit, Terry is recorded on the 1911 census as an assistant golf professional. His death notice in the Western Mail lists him as the professional at Radyr and thereafter Morlais Castle Golf Club. However, it is presumed given his age, at the time of his death, that he was an assistant at both clubs before enlisting in the Welsh Guards. Terry Mabbit would fall in action during the Battle of the Somme in September 1916 at the age of just 21. He is commemorated at the Thiepval memorial to the missing and also the Radyr WWI memorial.
