He died of wounds on the 10 May 1916, aged 20 years, and he is buried in Mericourt-L'Abbe Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
George Albert Williams was born at Denton in 1896 to Mary Williams and in 1911 he was resident with his grandparents, Charles and Mary Williams, on Cooke Street, Denton, employed as a jigger (someone who attends the brake on a self-acting incline or jig) in a coal mine. A later residence was on Wild Street.
