8002 Private Frank Graves of the 1st Battalion, King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment):

 

He was killed in action on the 13 October 1914, aged 31 years, and he is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.

 

Frank Graves was born at Openshaw, Manchester, in 1883 to Joseph Graves and Emma Robinson who were married at St Peter’s Church, Levenshulme, Manchester, in1880. He married Ruth Helen Henderson at Manchester in 1909 and in 1911 he was resident with his wife and son, Frank (1), on Gibson Street, Newton Heath, Manchester, employed as a boiler fireman. Following his death his widow married John Willie Ellor at Ashton-under-Lyne in 1916 and they were resident on Stockport Road, Denton.
