Edward probably perished in third battle of Ypres 1917. Born in 1894 in South Norwood near Croydon. He was by trade a monumental letter cutter the family being Stone masons. Ed was at first rejected for the army as he had a weak heart. Later when Earl Haig wanted more men he was passed fit and sent to France with little training he was reported missing a week or two after arriving. He is remembered with honour on the Menin Memorial gate Ypres. Never forget
