Born in Martham, Norfolk George enlisted at Norwich on 17th Sept 1914. He overstated his age by two years. He was posted to 9th Battalion on 23rd Oct 1914 and went to France on 30th Aug 1915. Due to being wounded by gunshot to his left shoulder on 15th Sept 1916 George returned to England on 20th Sept 1916 and was hospitalised until 23rd Oct 1916. He was then posted to 3rd Battalion on 1st Nov 1916 and returned to France on 1st Dec 1916. George then joined the 8th Battalion on 13th Dec 1916 and was killed during an attack on the South Miraumont Trench in the Ancre Valley, aged just 20 years old.
