David Sinclair came from the village of Kilsyth he was a miner. He had fought in the Boer war and when war was declared he enlisted once more, no bright eyed boy he told his wife they would get round to conscripting him so he was better of just going. He left his wife with five young children and five months pregnant with another child. David was killed on the 14th September 1914 during the battle of Aisne though all Janet ever received was a telegram "missing presumed dead" On the 10th January 1915 his daughter was born and named Davina in memory of her father. Janet passed away in early May 1960 and from the moment she received the news till the day she died she left a lit lamp in the window for him.
