He was born c1886 in Deptford. In 1891 he was living at 52 Alvar Street, Deptford with his parents Benjamin and Elizabeth. He had 2 brothers Alfred and Robert and 3 sisters Amelia, Susan and Rose. In 1911 he is in India serving in the army.

He is commmemorated at St Paul Church, Diamond Way, Deptford.
