He was born 19 October 1896 and was baptised 27 December 1896 at St.Lukes Church, Deptford. The family were living at 49 James Street, Deptford.

In 1901 he is living at 177, Childers Street, St Paul Deptford with his parents James and Sarah. Also living there are his brother Harold and 3 sisters Rose, May and Dora. In 1911 he is living at 47, Adolphus St., Deptford with his parents and brother Harold. He is employed as a brass finisher.

He is commmemorated at St Paul Church, Diamond Way, Deptford.
