He married Mary Ann Gould  10 September 1905 at Christ Church, Camberwell.He was living at 11 Vaughan Place.

They had 5 children William born 15 September 1907, Eileen Edith born 11 September 1909, Henry Robert born December 1912, Frederick born 26 August 1916 and Edward Charles born 22 February 1919.

In 1911 he was living at 36 Foxwell Street, Brockley with his wife Mary Ann and children William and Eileen. One of their children has already died.He was working as a carman

In 1901 he was living at 22 Foxwell Street, Deptford with his parents Edward and Mary Ann. He had 2 brothers Charles and George and 3 sisters Mary Ann, Eliza and Alice.

He enlisted 29 July 1916. He was 5ft 6 ½ inches tall and weighed 155lbs. His occupation was given as a coal porter.

He was discharged 24 April 1919 as being no longer physically fit for service. He was suffering from rheumatic fever. He also had been a dilated heart.
