21501 Frank Ainsworth of the 11th Battalion, Manchester Regiment:
He was killed in action on the 4 October 1917, aged 28 years, and he is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
Frank Ainsworth was born at Denton in 1889 and he is the son of Alfred Herbert Ainsworth and Martha Ann Myatt who were married at St Michael’s Church, Ashton-under-Lyne, in 1888. Martha Ann died at Denton in1895, aged 24 years, and Alfred Herbert Ainsworth remarried.
In 1901 Frank Ainsworth was resident with his father, stepmother, Eliza, and family on Stockport Road, Denton. He married Elizabeth Adams at the Madeley District, Shropshire, in 1915 and his wife was resident at Lawley Bank, Dawley, Shropshire. His widow married Joseph Bailey at the Madeley District, in 1919.
Frank’s half-brother served in the army as L/47330 Driver Arthur Ainsworth of the Royal Field Artillery and he was demobilised.
