He was born c1896 in Stepney.

In 1911 he was living at 73 Windmill Lane, Deptford with his parents Albert and Elizabeth. He had 2 brothers William and Robert and 3 sisters Alice, Ellen and Ivy. He was employed as a messenger boy at the Post Office.

He was commemorated St Michael’s House Mazawattee Tea Company, Knoyle Street, Deptford.
