My Great Great Grandfather, Lewis Judd, was in the 12th Btn of the Middlesex Regiment (54th Brigade, 18th Division). He died aged 32 on 17th October 1917, during the Battle of Passchendaele. I visited Ypres with my Grandparents and Parents this year in an attempt to find out more about our relative. Lewis was stationed close to Poelcappelle when he was killed, most probably during the shelling bombardment that his company came under on the night of the 17th in the trenches at Pheasant Farm. He is remembered at the Tyne Cot memorial alongside others in his regiment. Lewis will always be remembered by our family with pride. "When you go home tell them of us and say - For your tomorrow we gave our today."
