Edward served in "A" SQuadron of 12th (Prince of Wales's Royal) Lancers.

He died on 9th October 1918, during the Pursuit to the Selle.

He was the son of the late Robert Windley and Eliza (nee Ostler), and he was 31 years old when he died.
