Augustus had returned to battle after the death of  my great grandmother (Alice) in childbirth. The twins survived and the two older children never forgot the heartache of knowing they would never see their beloved father return to them . My grandmother , Winifred, was only 6 years old and even in later years always spoke of how proud she was of his courage and sense of duty. May he rest in peace and our deepest gratitude for all he sacrificed 

will not be forgotten
