I have no stories of Rifleman Dodds, but he was a Belfast lad like myself who tragically died in a foreign field. He was 18 and had his whole life ahead of him. A victim of circumstance, an accident of birth to be caught up in such slaughter. He gave his life bravely for his country. Had I been born one hundred years earlier, I might have served alongside him. Rest in peace.
