Captain Eric Maudslay Simpson, my Great Uncle, was my paternal Grandmother's favourite brother. She was delighted on learning of my following in his footsteps by going to RMAS Sandhurst in 1969. At RMAS and on several occasions I sat in the Royal Memorial Chapel there, seated behind a pillar whose face was inscribed by the fallen of the Worcester Regiment, of which he was one. I shall be seeing it again in July 2019, at my RMAS Intake 50th Reunion that includes an act of commemoration to our fallen, and those before whose names adorn that Chapel. Brigade Major 39 Infantry Brigade,  died on 2 May 2016 of Enteric Fever in Camp Filiyieh Field Hospital, Amara, and is buried in Amara War Cemetery, Iraq (UK Commonwealth War Graves).
