He was killed in action on the 3 September 1916, aged 33 years, and he is buried in Delville Wood Cemetery, France.

 

George Willie Adshead was born at Denton in 1883 and he is the son of Leigh Adshead and Martha Aston who were married at Christ Church, Denton, in 1882. In 1911 he was resident with his parents and siblings on Oldham Street, Denton, employed as a labourer in the hatting industry. A later residence was on Catherine Street.
