I am sad not to be able to add any personal details here save for what I know from public resources. Unfortunately as with many George Henry died at 19 years of age. Barely enough time to create stories of his own. We can only say that George grew up in Sawtry living in a house called Ivy Cottage which still stands. This dedication is made by the great-granddaughter of George's brother Frederick William Bowland who survived despite being shot through the throat. We wish George's story could have ended differently. We will be taking our ceramic poppy to Waggon Road to pay our respects on 14.11.16. Xx
