My research suggests that was on 23rd September undertaking a operation when Arthur crossed the river Stuma, dismounted at 11.15 a.m., acting as left flank guard for a reconnaissance in force by the infantry.

A Squadron were on the left towards Dzaminah, c Squandron in the centre round Gudeli and B Squadron on theright South East of Gudeli.

After crossing the river they pushed on through the scrub with someone ocassionally climbing a tree to look for the  well know white houe at Gudeli, which was a guide for the centre of the line, but they were held up from time to time by parties of the enemy concealed in strong positions in tall maize crop.  The crops made progress very difficult except along certain narrow paths where were made a veritable death trap by the enemey's snipers. Several men were killed an I feel certain Arthur was  one of them.
