Eustace Henry Egremont Abadie DSO was born in Selait, India in 1877. His father Major General Henry Richard also served in the army, but not in WW1, and died in May 1915. He had a brother Richard Neville Abadie who also served, and also died in the war. 

Eustace was a Major in the 9th Queen's Royal Lancers (Calavry) and landed in France in August 1914, having served for many years in the BEF. He was made a lieutenant in 1899 and captain by 1904, receiving a DSO in the South African War of 1900-01. 

He was killed in action on 30 October 1914 and remembered at Menin Gate.
