My great grand father private Francis McCoy served along with so many brave young men who gave the ultimate sacrifice. At 6:20 am on 20 November 1917 a 4 minute barrage of the line began. B company of the 6th connaughts leapt out of the British front line to make the 229 yard journey to a tunnel trench. After bitter fighting the connaught rangers secured their portion of the trench. This cost the lives of 38 brave rangers my great grand father being one of them.
