Born at Througham, near Bisley, during 1893, the son of Albert & Sarah. One of five brothers to serve during WW1 (William, of the Royal Field Artillery, died of wounds on 28th November 1916). Edward died at the Battle of Arras as 9/Rifle Brigade suffered heavy losses during its attack on enemy machine-gun posts. He is commemorated on the Bisley War Memorial, although his brother, William, is not.
