Company Quartermaster Tudge enlisted in March 1915 .After training at Paxton, Sheffield , Winchester, Goldalming and Aldershot he was sent to the Western Front on 12 March 1916. He had served for 17 months in France when he was killed by a shell. He was 29 years of age and left a wife and two children. Prior to enlisting he had worked for 15 years in the offices of the Sherwood Colliery Company Ltd at Mansfield Woodhouse.
