Henry Charles Scott was born in Bognor Regis, West Sussex. He was married with two children. He served as Private Scott SD 3225. He died cutting the wire on 30th June 1916 at Richeborg France. This was a diversionary attack to distract the enemy from the battle of the Somme. 365 men died and over 1000 injured that day. His regiment known as Loathers Lambs was virtually wiped out and is known as the day Sussex died. This is so tragic as these men were just used as a decoy knowing there would be tragic consequences. My great grandad was awarded the Military Medal posthumously. He is buried at St Vaas Cemetery, Richeborg,France.
