I do not have a story connected to this lady, or the war itself, apart from the fact that members of my own family fought in the war. It touched me that a young nurse gave her life whilst serving her country and I felt that I wanted to mark some form of solidarity for a woman doing a difficult job. Also, without detracting from the sacrifice of millions of men, it is important that people are made more aware that women did, and continue to do, their equal part.
