Our Great Uncle Norman Laverick was our Grandad's younger brother who joined up on 24/1/15 aged 19yrs 1month. We understand that he did some training somewhere in Devon but we have no information. He was in the 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade and was sent to France on 2/11/15 and sent to the front on 5/11/15. We have letters from him written in the trenches hoping he would be home for his 21st Birthday. Sadly he was wounded - shot in the knee - and died from his wounds on 12/5/16 aged 20yrs. We have been to the cemetery a couple of times and he is in a lovely peaceful location at Mericourt l'abbe Communal Cemetery Extension.
