I grew up hearing stories about Uncle Charlie. He was my grandmothers ( Emily Alice Lilian Mowles - Spencer ) brother. My father Charles Spencer is named after him. I have been told that my Great Grandmother, never came to terms with the loss of her son. She had a wooden money box in the shape of the Cenotaph on her mantle, hoping one day to visit his grave. Sadly she never managed this, nor did my grandmother. However Uncle Charlie was never forgotten and I hope one day to visit his grave for them and lay flowers.
