As I understand it, Enoch was in hospital recovering from wounds when he volunteered for a 'special mission' - this being the Battle of The Somme. He was killed on the first day and his body was never recovered. He is remembered on the Thiepval memorial and I promise to visit it and pay my respects in the near future.
