How humbling it is to find you here Samuel Lighten on this wonderful database, but also how sad to find that you died many years younger than I am now. The lighten family is now a small one, but maybe if you had had the chance to live a life unhindered by a war that called for the sacrifice of so many brave men like you , then possibly your great great grandchildren would be a part of it . I shall endeavour to find out more about your family and hopefully this will lead to new beginnings and your short life will be remembered with the start of new freindships. I chose you firstly because of our shared surname but also because my wife's name is also Sam , so a Sam Lighten (formerly Kernot) carries your name today . I would llike to end this commemoration by saying how proud and honoured I am to remember you, but also how wonderful it would have been to have known you or even to have a picture that would let me know your face .
