Bill Hubbard is remebered in an oral history account by Alf Razzel and is featured on the Roger Waters song the ballad of Bill Hubbard. Alf Razzel found Bill Hubbard mortally wounded in a trench in the German lines and tried to carry him when they were both taken prisoner. However, Bill's wound was too painful for him and he cried "Put me down!" and he siad that he'd rather die than be carried away. Alf Razzel had to leave Bill Hubbard on the battlefield to die and he thought about that day for the rest of his life. I'm so sorry Bill and I hope that you are pain free now, wherever it is you lie.
