John Hay Lyell born in Newburgh, Fife in 1894 to Stewart Lyell and Jane Hay, John was the youngest brother in a family of seven children. John's older brother, Stewart also died in the Great War in 1917 and is buried in Gaza war cemetery. Their other brother, my Grandfather, James, served and survived WW1.
